what they say: I’m fine
what they mean: okay but the Negan scene was heartbreaking in so many ways. Rick having to come to terms with the fact that he can’t save anyone in that moment, being faced with a situation where he was completely helpless. Daryl bleeding out, wrapped in a blanket in the mud, trying to hard to be brave when Negan most likely reminded him of his father. Glenn being so far from Maggie, not being able to help her, and the knowledge of that killing him. Maggie being in immense pain, so badly that she had to be carried, now plopped in the dirt far from her husband. Sasha crying because she’s afraid of dying, when just last season she wanted to die. Her character development, no matter how annoyingly centered around Abraham, shows so heartbreakingly in this moment. Carl, young Carl, staring Negan in the eyes; nothing phases him anymore. Michonne being separated from Rick and Carl, the two people she loves most, not being able to protect them. Eugene who tried so hard to deter this from happening, beaten and put into line along the people he “failed”. Rosita not even looking at the bat when it’s shoved in her face, like she’s too scared or stubborn to do so. Aaron, who just wanted to help Maggie, now not knowing if he’ll ever see his husband again. It was such a well done scene, the acting was phenomenal, and it was ruined by shitty writing and I’m mad.
